The hope of a clean planet...

Hello to all!

Today I will talk about how worried I am about to take care of our nature and environment. I don't know what shade of green I am, but since I was a little girl, my mother and me take care for plants, trees, flowers and lawns of our house. In summer with my mother we water the grass, trees and flowers every night, and we water the plants every two days, because too much water is bad for them. In winter, give water to the grass less often, because it rains often. In my department here in Santiago, I have two plants that are interior, this means they must be inside the house; these plants were a present from my boyfriend's grandmother. I have been concerned to water them once a week, and once a month I left them in the shower to clean all their leaves.

We learn to take care of our environment, watching television shows where we advise, or searching in the Internet tips for care for nature. Always I meet people who recycle trash, but I don't do that, though it seems a good idea to talk to my neighbors to recycle our garbage, would be a good contribution to the care of the environment. In Curicó, frequently I use the bike to get around from one place to another, but here in Santiago I'm afraid to ride a bike, because I think there are many cars and I consider it unsafe, though there are bike path, there isn't in all parts. I don't support any environmental organizations, because I'm not very informed about them. To reduce my carbon footprint, I try to walk or ride my bike to mobilize myself in Curicó and here in Santiago, I get around by bus or metro and walk.

In our society we need to be aware with the care of the environment, we need to know that Santiago is highly polluted, how bad the pollution does to nature, to our body and animals. We need to help inform us to save our environment.

Goodbye! See you next class!

Books and literature :)

I only read books once in a while, because I've never been very fond of reading. When I was a child, in school they told us what books we had to read, but I don't liked those books, were boring. In my life I do not know how many books I read, but now in college I have to read a lot and I started to like it a bit.
I like to read romance novels and mystery, both immersed me in reading and I can't stop reading. I have two books that I liked a lot, the first one I read at age 17 "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown, and "A orillas del río piedra me senté y lloré" by Paulo Coelho, which is the last thing that I read.
"The Da Vinci Code" I enjoyed it a lot, because it's a novel of mystery and suspense, I could not stop reading, because I wanted to discover the riddles that are given on each page. The last book I read was "A orillas del río piedra me senté y lloré", I enjoyed it too, the story is about a man and a woman who were friends since childhood and when they are adults they meet again. They are in love, but the life he leads each one is different, then they have to make important decisions to be together.
Always takes me a lot of time to read a book, but these two books took me nothing of time, felt the need to know what happens next. I absolutely recommend to my friends both novels are very interesting and both have love and suspense.
This is a phrase I liked about "A orillas del río piedra me senté y lloré":
"We only fully understand the miracle of life when we allow the unexpected happen."
See you next class!

My News.

Sex education can help tackle the abuse of girls. So will the Tories commit to it?

By Holly Dustin.

The Guardian, Friday 5 October 2012 14.00 BST

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/oct/05/sex-education-child-abuse-tories

This article is about the need to educate sexually in the schools on England to prevent sexual abuse of girls and young women in that country.
The article starts by mentioning that in recent weeks the news has talked about the vulnerability of girls in Rochdale, who were victims of professors who were caring for them but were repeatedly abused.
It says about a man named Jimmy Savile who is accused of sexual abuse against many girls.
It says in this article that abusers are adept at manipulating their victims and cover up their crimes against the authorities. It talks about the impact of pornography on men from an early age, and often produces harmful behavior towards women. So the idea is that educate children sexually in the schools, informing them on issues such as sexual exploitation and sexual consent and can talk to a trusted adult about these issues so they know where to turn in case of abuse.
The idea is that young people know their rights and this issue was discussed at an annual conference on sex education.
The article provides information that showing more or less the amount of children who are victims of sexual abuse in the schools and mentions research by NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) and other research by themselves.
Teachers say they feel unprepared to address these issues in the schools, and the article mentions that want to train teachers so they can talk about the types of violence and don’t overlook abuse cases.
It is mentioned that they are doing a campaign called "Schools Safe 4 Girls", which is called the parents and students in their schools to ask how it is addressing the issue of sexual abuse.
Finally asked the coalition government specifically a man Michael Gove, how it will respond to this issue.

See you next Friday!
